In-Depth Information
but the world is full of folks who know and appreciate truly good
tequila. For them, this excursion is a serious business, one that
could be compared to the Napa Valley Wine Train, for instance.
The excursion includes the train ride, of course, plus lunch
at the hacienda and a tour of the distillery. Two classes of service
are offered. The last information I had was that the train runs
on Saturdays and Sundays, with the possibility of a Friday-night
tour to come. If you book through a tour operator, he or she will
have all the current information. You can also go to the Tequila
Express Web site, www.tequilaexpress.com.mx.
Booking Your Trip
I recommend going through a tour operator to book a trip
through the Copper Canyon on El Primero. There are choices to
be made, as I have noted earlier, and small but important details
can and do change all the time. The tour operator gets paid to
make recommendations, to handle those details, and to keep you
informed, right up to the last minute.
There are a number of tour operators who specialize in
booking and making arrangements for the Copper Canyon trip.
I would suggest going through one of the travel agencies special-
izing in rail travel listed on page 342. You can also contact a very
experienced tour operator, S&S Tours of Arizona, by phone at
1-866-780-2813 or through their Web site, www.ss-tours.com.
