Specialty Cars
If you want to ship some strange kind of cargo by rail, there will
either be a specially built car that already exists and can accom-
modate it, or, if you're going to ship a lot of those things, some-
one will build a car just for you. For instance, Boeing has some
special “high-wide” cars they use to transport airplane fuselages.
With the increasing number of wind farms around the country,
special cars have been designed to carry the huge blades used on
wind turbines.
When it comes to moving freight, time is money. The freight
railroads certainly know that and will go to great lengths to keep
