Superliner Lounge Cars
On any Amtrak train using Superliner equipment, this is the place
to be for the best look at the passing scenery. The upper level fea-
tures comfortable chairs that face huge windows extending half-
way up the roof of the car. On the lower level there are booths
with tables and a snack bar where you can buy sandwiches, chips,
candy bars, and a variety of juice and beverages, nonalcoholic
and otherwise. There is also a limited selection of souvenir items:
playing cards, postcards, coloring books for the kids, and the
like. The lounge-car attendant opens up very early in the morning
and, except for well-deserved 45-minute meal breaks during the
day, will serve passengers until midnight or close to it. The upper
level of the lounge car is for all passengers, whether traveling in
coach or sleeping car, and is open and available all night.
