If two people are occupying the roomette, you'll have to leave
your luggage in the lower-level storage racks, bringing only toi-
letries and the bare essentials into the room. If you're in a room-
ette by yourself, there is a small shelf (it's actually a wide arm
rest) that will accommodate a small airline-sized carry-on bag.
There is a place to hang a couple of garments (coat hangers are
provided). Yes, the roomettes are small, but because you pay for
sleeping-car accommodations by the room and not per person,
this is by far the most economical way for two people to enjoy
the privacy and comfort that sleeping cars offer. Remember, too,
that all meals for both people are included in the fare.

The five large bedrooms are all located on the upper level and
are very adequate for two adults. By day, there's a long uphol-
stered benchlike seat facing a comfortable chair. The large seat
flattens out at night to form a lower berth that's wider than a
standard twin bed and can accommodate an adult and a small
child. (Two adults will find it either crowded or cozy, depend-
ing on the couple's priorities at the time.) The upper berth folds
