berths. Each Viewliner sleeper can accommodate up to 30 people
in 15 different rooms.
Every Viewliner includes three large two-person bedrooms,
one of which is designed to accommodate a person with a dis-
ability and a companion. The other two bedrooms can connect
to form a large suite with plenty of room for four people. Each
bedroom includes a washbasin, a toilet, and a shower. There is
also a small clothes closet and space for storing two small- or
medium-sized suitcases.

The twelve roomettes are smaller—a lot smaller—but will
also accommodate two people. Because the roomettes are much
narrower than the bedrooms, whoever draws the upper berth
will especially appreciate that second window. Each roomette
includes a fold-down washbasin and a toilet. There is a very high
shelf that will take two small suitcases, although they will be hard
to reach when the upper berth is lowered. Passengers in the room-
ettes have access to a shower that's located at the end of the car.
The Superliner Fleet
These bi-level cars are used on all of Amtrak's long-distance west-
ern trains and on three trains running in the east: the City of New
Orleans, the Capitol Limited, and the Auto Train. Superliners
are larger and heavier than Amfleet or Viewliner cars, so the ride
