In-Depth Information
car. There's either another seating scheduled or the dining-car
crew is ready for a well-earned break.
• Unless it's truly important, don't bother a member of the
crew who's on a meal break in the dining car. It's a tough job,
and he deserves that short time to himself.
• If you're traveling with children, don't let them run around
the train without supervision. It's dangerous, especially in the
vestibules between cars, and it can be very annoying to other
passengers.
One last word on the subject of behavior: Some passengers
are under the impression that there are no
laws onboard a train.
They actually think they can indulge in drugs, liquor to excess,
and any number of other illegal activities with impunity. Wrong!
Wherever the train happens to be, the laws of that particular state
apply to everyone onboard. Passengers can be removed from the
train and arrested in exactly the same way they can be kicked out
of a hotel or restaurant and into the waiting arms of the law. It
can and does happen.
