In-Depth Information
onboard crew sees you doing it, you could be put off the train.
Yes, they are that serious about it.
One more thing: Don't feel bad when you get home and find
that quite a few of your photos have been ruined by what I call
“the green blur”—bushes or trees that suddenly zoom by just as
you press the shutter. I'm an expert on green-blur photography
and have hundreds of shots to prove it.
Onboard Activities
Any organized activities occur in Superliner lounge cars because
they're so much bigger than their single-level counterparts. Mov-
ies are shown in the early evening, and titles and starting times
will be announced over the train's public-address system. Some,
but not all, long-distance trains have a special play area for young
children on the lower level of one of the Superliner coaches. And,
for sleeping-car passengers, there are wine-and-cheese-tasting
events on both the Empire Builder and the Coast Starlight.
Most kids have a low threshold for scenery watching on long-distance train rides, so
bring some games to help occupy their time. Photo courtesy of the author
