In-Depth Information
This photo, which I shot in Nagoya last year, shows some very creative apostrophe abuse. No apostrophe is
needed in this case, but if you're going to use it, you might as well put it on the correct side of the year.
In Sum
• Clear, effective type is especially important when presenting visuals in large rooms
where people are sitting at various distances from the screen, sometimes quite far
away. Always design for the last row.
• Your typeface choice depends on your content and even your own personality.
Although people in the audience are not consciously aware of it, your selection of
typeface says something about your content and even about you.
• You can achieve harmony using type in many ways. Try mixing type from the same
font family or mixing type from two families such as a classic serif and a clean, bold
sans serif. Add images to text to reinforce your message. Put your text in
unconventional places on the slide. But always keep simplicity in mind.
• Since you know your content well, don't let the type on screen suggest otherwise.
Learn the basics of proper punctuation and check your spellings. A misstep here
instantly makes you lose credibility.
