A consistent border acts as protection around the photographic element. White is clean and dramatic.
A full-screen image is dramatic and allows an interesting interplay between figure (foreground elements) and
ground (slide background). The images lead your eyes to the type. (Images in slides from iStockphoto.com .)
On occasion, it is OK to bleed text or images other than photographs off the edges. But
when you place an object so that it almost—but not quite—touches the edges of a slide,
it creates an uncomfortable visual effect.
