in Yahoo! Web analytics, you are not required to append anything to the track-
ing code and all setup is done within the reporting tool itself. ad hoc scenarios are
done on the fly and do not require any setup whatsoever. Creating predefined scenarios
helps you increase reporting speed, and it requires that you use more than eight steps
in the funnel. if you are running a web property that is anything below 10 million page
views a month, predefined scenarios will not help too much, and i suggest that you just
go ahead and use ad hoc scenarios when needed.
on a conceptual level, scenarios are defined as a set of steps moving toward a
goal that you have in mind. the first thing you do is apply a set of simple properties to
your predefined scenario, as shown in Figure 2.13.

Continuing the example in our previous figure, which asked for a funnel visual-
izing the falloff from blog post visits to rss subscribers, we could define two simple
steps, as you can see in Figure 2.14.
