Backward-looking Path Analysis report
For path analysis reports to be of any value on their own, i suggest that you
always use segmentation when looking at paths. each of your segments is likely to
behave differently, and an understanding of how different they are can be valuable. i
provided a set of examples on the same path segmented by two unique traffic sources
in the path analysis Drill-Down examples section.
Path Analysis Drill-Down Examples
in this section i will show you how to use path analysis as a drill-down feature on
other reports.
Looking at our Most popular pages report and searching for
basket
, we get an
output like that shown in Figure 10.6.
When you click the magnifying glass to the left of the row result, you can run a
show path from here by title path analysis report. this is an easier way to do a cross-
reference rather than using the path analysis report.
on the returning path analysis screen, you append your filters with a traffic
source filter and apply two distinct filters, one after the other, on other Referrals (see
Figure 10.7) and organic search (see Figure 10.8).
