In-Depth Information
Using the previous example, let's add another dimension that reflects the traffic
we want to investigate, as shown in figure 8.23.

as you can see, i lowered the entry page filter, as we are drilling into greater
detail. i also expanded the period to get a bit more data. figure 8.23 undoubtedly tells
us a story about internal search engine results pages (seRps) indexed in google and
that they are obviously not working as landing pages.
SERP
A search engine results page, internal or external, is the listing of web pages returned by the
search engine in response to a keyword query. The results normally include a list of web pages
with titles, a link to the page, and a short description showing where the keywords have matched
content within the page. A SERP may refer to a single page of links returned, or to the set of all
links returned for a search query.
You could mark those pages in your robots.txt file and make sure they are not
indexed. You could then focus on getting more valuable pages indexed on the same
keywords instead.
robots.txt
The robot exclusion standard, also known as the Robots Exclusion Protocol or robots.txt pro-
tocol, is a convention to prevent cooperating web spiders and other web robots from accessing all
or part of a website that is otherwise publicly viewable. Robots are often used by search engines
to categorize and archive websites.
