Once you decide what UrL string to use, click the add button, and your inter-
nal campaign will be saved. make sure that you add the same UrL string to your web-
site in order to identify the campaign.
to track internal campaign clicks that point to both internal and external loca-
tions, call a standard function, which for Version 4 is called
submit_icmp()
. this
function is similar to the standard Version 4
submit()
function, except that it only trig-
gers an internal campaign click and does not trigger a page view—much more about
this in Chapter 5, “advanced instrumentation.”
Finally, internal campaigns do not conflict with regular external campaigns, nei-
ther in the setup and recognition nor in the attribution of the actions taken. that said,
i would like to remind you that categorization is indeed possible for internal campaigns
but that it is separate from regular external campaigns.
You should by now be fully versed in campaign tracking and ready to move on
