Samsung 250 GB 840 PRO Series SSD. 3 This is one of the most durable SSDs
I've used and one of the fastest in its price class.
Installing the SSD requires four screws to mount the drive on one of the PC
case's drive sleds. The screw holes are located on the bottom of the drive and
need to be aligned with the holes on the bottom of the drive sled (as the next
figure shows).
Figure 45—Use the four screw holes on the bottom of the drive to secure it to a drive
sled.
You can choose any of the drive sleds seated in the drive bays to mount the
SSD, but I chose the top drive bay as a visual indicator to remind me which
drive is designated as the PC's primary boot drive. Remove the drive sled from
the top drive bay by squeezing the drive sled's side tabs using your thumb
and forefinger. The sled should unclip and slide right out, as shown in Figure
46, Drive bays in the 500R PC case , on page 48 and Figure 47, Slide the drive
sleds out to mount SSDs and HDDs onto them , on page 48 .
Using the four drive-bay screws that accompanied the 500R PC case, mount
the SSD to the base of the drive sled, as shown in Figure 48, The Samsung
SSD mounted on the drive sled , on page 49 . The SATA data and power connec-
tors should hang slightly past the edge of the sled. This will make it easier
for us to plug the SATA and power cables into these connectors.
With the SSD securely mounted to the drive sled, slide the drive sled back
into the drive bay until you hear and feel the sled clicking into place. All that's
left for us to do with this drive is hook up the SATA and power cables. But
before we do, let's mount our HDD and optical disc drives so we can plug
them all in at the same time.
