The Furnace Creek Inn provides a list of more than four dozen movies filmed at least in part
in the area. These include Star Wars , Spartacus , and King Solomon's Mines . Television shows filmed
here include Tarzan , Death Valley Days , and an episode of The Twilight Zone .
President Hoover named Death Valley a national monument in February 1933. In 1994, Death
Valley became a national park, making it the largest park in the continental United States.
High summer temperatures discourage many visitors. Most tourism is in the winter, spring,
and fall, and the inn is available to guests from mid-October through mid-May. In the hot months,
from mid-May through mid-October, all operations are consolidated at the Furnace Creek Ranch.
The mission-style inn is a AAA four-diamond property. The nearby Furnace Creek Ranch offers
224 family-oriented accommodations.
The Furnace Creek Inn & Ranch Resort offers the perfect vantage point to explore the beauty
of a region that is virtually untouched and extraordinarily distinct.
