ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Steven F. Barrett , PhD, PE, BS, Electronic Engi-
neering Technology, University of Nebraska at
Omaha, 1979; MEEE, University of Idaho at
Moscow, 1986; PhD, University of Texas at Aus-
tin, 1993. He serves as Professor of Electrical and
Computer Engineering and Associate Dean for
Academic Programs, University of Wyoming.
He is a member of IEEE (senior) and Tau Beta Pi
(chief faculty advisor, WY A). His research inter-
ests include image processing, computer-
assisted laser surgery, and embedded systems.
He is a registered PE in Wyoming and Colorado.
He co-wrote with Dr. Daniel Pack several text-
books on microcontrollers and embedded
systems.
Cameron H. G. Wright , PhD, PE is Associate
Professor and Associate Department Head,
Department of Electrical and Computer Engi-
neering, University of Wyoming, Laramie, WY.
He was previously Professor and Deputy
Department Head, Department of Electrical
Engineering, United States Air Force Academy,
and served as an R&D engineering officer in the
U.S. Air Force for over 20 years. He received the
BSEE (summa cum laude) from Louisiana Tech
University (1983), the MSEE from Purdue Uni-
versity (1988), and PhD from the University of
Texas at Austin (1996). His research interests
include signal and image processing, real-time
embedded computer systems, biomedical instru-
mentation, and engineering education. He is a
member of ASEE, IEEE, SPIE, BMES, NSPE, Tau
Beta Pi, and Eta Kappa Nu, and is a registered
PE in Wyoming and California.
