ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Blayne M. Phillips is a doctoral candidate in the
Chemical Engineering Department at the
University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.
Blayne grew up in Trinidad and Tobago, where
he attended high school at St. Mary's College,
Port of Spain. He attended Northeastern
University, Boston, MA, where he was awarded
the Reggie Lewis scholarship and graduated
with a BS in Chemical Engineering. He was
admitted to the University of Florida in 2010
with the NSF Bridge to the Doctorate Fellowship.
His current research interests include colloidal
self-assembly, polymer membranes, antire-
flection coatings, and photovoltaics.
Peng Jiang is currently an associate professor in
the Chemical Engineering Department at the
University of Florida. He obtained his PhD in
materials chemistry at Rice University and was
a postdoctoral fellow in the Chemical Engi-
neering Department at Princeton University.
After gaining industrial R&D experiences in
Corning and General Electric, he started his
academic career in 2006. His current research
interests include nanophotonics, material self-
assembly, plasmonic biosensors, biomimetic
materials, and scalable nanomanufacturing. He
is a recipient of the NSF CAREER Award.
