ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Natalia Dushkina received her MS in quantum
electronics and lasers from the University of
Sofia, Bulgaria, and a PhD in Physics from the
Central Laboratory of Optical Storage and Pro-
cessing of Information, Bulgarian Academy of
Sciences. She was a post-doctoral fellow at the
Department of Physics, University of Tokyo,
and at the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory
(MEL), Tsukuba, Ministry of International Trade
and Industry (MITI) of Japan. Currently, she is
an associate professor of physics at Millersville
University, Pennsylvania, USA. Her current
research interests include surface plasmon reso-
nance, self-assembled nanostructures, color for-
mation and structural colors, and optical
properties of nanomaterials.
Akhlesh Lakhtakia received degrees from the
Banaras Hindu University (BTech and DSc) and
the University of Utah (MS and PhD) in
electronics engineering and electrical engineering,
respectively. He is the Charles Godfrey Binder
(Endowed) Professor of Engineering Science and
Mechanics at the Pennsylvania State University
and currently serves as the editor-in-chief of the
Journal of Nanophotonics . His current research
interests include nanotechnology, forensic
science, bioreplication, surface multiplasmonics,
complex materials, metamaterials, and sculptured
thin films. He is a Fellow of SPIE, the Optical
Society of America, American Physical Society,
Institute of Physics (UK), and American
Association for the Advancement of Science.
