Narrative
In a narrative portfolio, the portfolio tells a story through its sequence and
organization. Narratives are not necessarily stories in the sense that they have a plot,
but they do have a clear order. They may even have a formal beginning, middle, and
end. A narrative portfolio says, “My work is about something specific.”
Kevin Longo's subway metaphor provides a useful reason to
engage his portfolio story in his preferred order, while still
allowing random exploration. It provides an engaging beginning
for a journey and ensures that his viewers will visit at least one
or two “stops” along the way.
