P 2 O 5 /ha in sandy clay loam soil. The maximum yield of
141.88 Mg/ha in clay loam soil was obtained at a soil
solution level of 0.30 mg P/L, which was developed with
the application of 158 kg P 2 O 5 /ha. In case of sandy loam
soil, the maximum green fodder yield of 123.45 Mg/ha
was obtained at a soil solution level of 0.35 mg P/L,
which was developed with the application of 142 kg
P 2 O 5 /ha.

17.3.12 Dry matter and p concentration of
berseem fodder
The dry matter of berseem contains all the nutrients
except water. Data regarding dry matter (%) of berseem
in three soils are presented in Table 17.21. The statistical
analysis indicated that maximum dry matter of 11.41%
in the case of sandy clay loam soil was obtained at a soil
solution level of 0.40 mg P/L, which was developed with
the application of 66 kg P/ha. In the case of clay loam
soil, the maximum dry matter of 11.21% was obtained
at a soil solution level of 0.40 mg P/L, which was devel-
oped with the application of 96 kg P/ha, while in the
case of sandy loam soil, the maximum dry matter of
10.51% was obtained at a soil solution level of 0.50 mg
P/L, which was developed with the application of 71 kg
P/ha. Data regarding the effect of applied P on P
concentration (%) of berseem in three soils are pre-
sented in Table  17.22. A maximum P concentration
(0.300%) was observed at a solution level of 0.50 mg
P/L, which was developed by adding 73 kg P/ha in the

grown after mung bean and the first berseem crop.
17.3.11 Green fodder yield (third crop)
Data on berseem total green fodder yield in five cuttings
for three soils are given in Table 17.20. The fertilizer P
doses for obtaining maximum green fodder yields were
different in the three soils. The statistical analysis indi-
cated that the maximum green fodder yield, i.e.
110.50 Mg/ha, was obtained at a soil solution level of
0.30 mg P/L, which was developed by adding 140 kg
