IA Ventures
Roger Ehrenberg is the founder and Managing Partner of IA Ventures, a seed-
stage venture capital firm investing in companies creating competitive advantage
through data. As a result of his investments, Ehrenberg sits on the boards of DataSift,
Metamarkets, PlaceIQ, Sight Machine, The Trade Desk, and Twice, and serves as a
board observer for MemSQL and SavingStar. An early investor in the “Big Data”
theme and more recently in “data-centric companies”, Ehrenberg commands a com-
prehensive view of the opportunities and challenges posed by data-driven competi-
tive advantage. Since IA Ventures' inception in 2010, he and his team have invested
in more than 30 companies and helped them to implement strategies that leverage
data to drive differentiation.
From 2004 to 2009, Ehrenberg seeded forty companies as an angel investor through
IA Capital Partners—including bit.ly, Buddy Media (acquired by Salesforce.com ) ,
Global Bay Mobile Technologies (acquired by VeriFone), Invite Media (acquired by
Google), Magnetic, TicketFly, TubeMogul (IPO), and TweetDeck (acquired by Twitter).
Before becoming a startup investor, Ehrenberg worked for over seventeen years
on Wall Street in M&A, capital structuring, derivatives, and quantitative trading.
He served as the Global Co-head of Deutsche Bank's Strategic Equity Transactions
Group and finally as the President and CEO OF DB Advisors, Deutsche Bank's
internal hedge fund trading platform. He holds an MBA in Finance, Accounting and
Management from Columbia Business School and a BBA in Finance, Economics and
Organizational Psychology from the University of Michigan.
