I arrived at the top of a hill which gave a commanding view of the area and before
I free-wheeled down, I stopped to take a photo. I eventually entered Stellenbosch and

to leave my bike at the station for the night. So I took a few things and then went with Pam
to her farmhouse- an absolutely stunning example of Cape architecture with a tradition-

her husband and was offered to stay as long as I wanted. I actually only spent the weekend
there. The next morning, I walked back to the fire station to get my bike and cycled to the
farmhouse.
I must admit that I wasn't entirely happy there. Don't get me wrong, my hosts were

evening in my journal, it was because I wasn't doing any public speaking and as a conse-
quence I felt like I “wasn't earning my salt.”
Just as I was thinking of leaving, opportunities arose to delay my departure from
the Stellenbosch area byaweek. Iwent tostay with Pam'ssonanddaughter-in-law (Gavin
and Natasha) and then we went for a wine tour toward Paarl and went to Fairview to eat a

involved) and wished him a safe journey.
