In-Depth Information
My last day with the Hooles was spent in the mountains and at the beach to take
some pictures. They gave me a t-shirt with one of the photos printed on it. In their final act
of kindness, they mailed the shirt to my parents in Canada.
I must comment here about Philip. It was such an honour to meet him. I had seen
him with his children, his wife, his clients and friends and have come to know him as a
man of high integrity and strong values. I even forgave him for embarrassing me at Eric
Attwell's presentation.
Sadly, the morning came when I decided to leave. It was hard to say good-bye to
Elsa and the children (Martin, Kevin and Caryn.) I tried to make it as painless as possible
so I gave them all a quick hug and after saying thank-you and goodbye, I hopped on the
bike without looking back. Martin cycled with me to the end of the road and as we parted
I told him what a great dad he had. I then pushed on to Philip's office. We chatted for an
hour and I ended our conversation by telling him how honoured I was to have met him and
his family. He just smiled in return and we hugged goodbye.
I was off by 2:00 p.m. I wasn't concerned about my late departure for my destina-

in the village and stayed with the Bredells. I called the Hooles to say that I was OK and
settled in to see this incredible ocean view outside the living room window.
