consent was never given. Anyway, Carin dropped me off at my home and I quickly packed
my things to go camping with Allan the next morning.
He arrived at 9:00 a.m. and I quickly put my stuff in his car. We went to St.
Andrew's School to pick up Michael, a student-teacher and then drove to Allan's girl-

to their wedding but I couldn't afford to fly back to South Africa.)
The entire trip was absolutely amazing: the journey, the destination and of course
the company. We drove northeast to Bethlehem where we stopped for lunch and proceeded
tothe Qua-Qua National Park.Weleft the vehicle at the car parkat 2,598metres above sea
level and loaded our gear into our backpacks. Since I was the guest, they carried me….just
kidding. I carried just my gear while the other three carried the tents, stove and food. We
climbed for the next two hours until we reached 2,906 metres. Then we came to a ladder
that took us to an elevation of 2,990m. We hiked further along the plateau to where we
would eventually camp.
Just before night fell, we pitched our tents and they started dinner (I was their guest
so I just relaxed and told them to hurry because I was hungry.) We washed down our
mashedpotatoesandmeatballdinnerwithportwine.Inoticedanarrowsteamlocatedsteps
away from our tents and was told that if I stepped over the stream, I would be in Lesotho.
