to say good-bye for in this short time I grew attached to everyone, especially Lydie.
The condition of the road helped me keep my thoughts off of Lydie and Bruno and
ontheconceptofnotfalling.Ibegantonegotiatearoundlargepotholesthatslowedmypro-
gress. I did manage to fall off my bike once but luckily didn't get hurt. I stopped for lunch
under a large tree next to a stream and waterfall. After a simple lunch of bread, cheese and
jam,IsaidtheRosary.Thebackgroundsoundsofthebirdsandthewatergurglingfromthe
stream made this spot so peaceful.
I resumed my cycling and a short distance later I had to stop and let a troupe of 50
monkeys go by. They paid no heed to me as they quickly crossed the road. Soon after, the
