Comparison of methane solubility correlations
Six methane solubility correlations were chosen for evaluation
against the methane solubility database.
McCain developed a set of polynomial equations in pressure
and temperature to reproduce an earlier graphical correlation for
methane solubility in pure water. 16 McCain also developed an equation
to reproduce a graphical correlation for the effect of salinity on
solubility of natural gas in water. As with any polynomial fit, McCain's
correlation should not be used outside the range of data on which it
is based: pressures from 1,000 to 10,000 psia (6.9 MPa to 69 MPa) and
temperatures from 80ºF to 340ºF (26.7ºC to 171.1ºC).
