FIG. 5.32
Delete the lower half of the sphere.
FIG. 5.33
F r om the side view, move, scale, and rotate the sphere.
As you can see in Figure 5.34a, the sphere is in the center of the model, which
is not good, and its orientation won't help us either. To help when we attach it
to the torso, and when we come to shape it, we need to rotate the sphere i rst
so we have a nice neat line running down the center.
The easiest way to accomplish this is to i rst press R to switch to the rotate
manipulator, and then rotate around the Z axis (blue) until the line of
edges lines up with the center of the torso (Figure 5.34b).
Finally, move the sphere over to the right, remembering to rotate it
slightly so the chest points outward, not straight ahead ( Figure 5.34c ).
The main shape is now in place, so next we need to stitch the sphere to the
torso, and smooth out the general area. Before we can do this, we need to
make these two objects into a single element.
Select the sphere, and while holding Shift add the torso to the selection.
Right click to bring up the context menu and, as shown in Figure 5.35,
move down to Combine Objects to combine them.
