B oots
Earlier we chose not to use the feet from the base mesh as the starting point
for our boots. Instead, we are going to build the boots from scratch. This is
the easiest option, as the boots only need to be basic; if we edited the feet,
we would be making more work for ourselves as we adjusted the topology.
What we can do is use the lower section of the trousers as a starting point.
The following steps can be seen in Figure 9.7.
Begin by selecting the bottom four rows of her trousers, and use the
Break tool to separate them, ef ectively detaching the polygons to give us
the upper part of her boots.
N e x t , Extrude the bottom of these, extending them down i rst and then
out to cover her feet and toes (Figure 9.7b).
