All this girl needs now is an ear. Once we have built it, we will have a fully
modeled base mesh for you to play with and use on many dif erent projects,
so let's jump right in.
(Tip: We recommend i nding some reference material of an ear for this section.
The ear can look quite complicated and be tricky to model from memory,
so Google an image of an ear now to help. We have included Figure 8 56 as a
guide, to help as you model.)
Begin by loading the scene Chapter08/Files/08_Head.sib .
Subdivide the model and navigate to the hole we created as a start point
for the ear.
Select the edge ring around the hole and perform an Extrude , scaling it
outward ( Figure 8.57b ).
Next, create a second Extrude ; this time, simply move it out to the right as
this will give the ear its thickness (Figure 8 57c).
Now create a i nal Extrude , but this time Merge the edges. This will close
the hole, giving you a basic ear shape (Figure 8.57d).
