O rganic Modeling: Torso
In Chapter 5, we explored Silo's main modeling tools as we created our basic
base mesh. In the following chapters, we step things up a notch as we work
on the detail pass where we will build in the main muscles, hands and feet
details, and a fully featured face.
(Note: Unlike Chapter 5, we will not be too concerned with explaining
each previously used tool and process, so we recommend that you read
the previous chapters before continuing. You will i nd the i les used for this
section in the downloaded tutorial i les inside Chapter 6/Files.)
Preparation
Before we begin this section, we need to have the relevant reference materials
on hand. You should have gathered most of this in the early chapters of
the topic, but following are a few pieces we think will help throughout this
chapter.
The i rst in Figure 6.1 is a drawing displaying the main muscle groups. This will
be essential to refer to, as following the main muscles as we work will make the
character appear more realistic, and help make the model easier to animate.
