5. Check i nest detail.
Note:
Since we are now
working with the
operating system, you
will not be able to see
your image here in the
dialog box.
6. Color Toning: begin with Neutral for black and white; experiment with
other toning options here for cool, warm or sepia.
Step 6: Click on “Copies and Pages” again, and drop down to choose “Printer
Color Management”.
The tone settings and color toning options will require some experimentation
if you choose to tone using this method.
Under the tone settings there are several options, listed as Darkest, Darker,
Dark, Normal and Light. These are basically gamma adjustment settings. You
will want to experiment with the choices to i nd the best settings for your
images. However, try starting with the Dark setting for a gray gamma of 2.2
and Darker for a gray gamma of 1.8.
Color toning options in this interface are relatively limited, and the toning is
applied uniformly over the entire image. The choices include Neutral, Cool,
Warm and Sepia. The neutral setting may be more or less neutral depending
on the media and proi les. The color wheel at the bottom of the dialog allows
for i ne-tuning the color tint applied to the image.
Method 4: Plug-In, Monochrome Photo Mode, Specii c for new
Canon professional Printers
Also worth mentioning among the latest technological advances in black
and white printing are Canon's new imagePROGRAF professional printers
with Plug-In. The black and white output from these printers is impressive
and shows excellent detail on most media types, i nally giving Epson some
competition in the black and white arena. The monochrome photo mode will
produce neutral, high quality monochrome images with the primary use of
the Black, Gray and Photo Gray inks. This mode helps to ensure minimal shifts
in color that are commonly caused by the use of color inks in black and white
prints, thus outputting neutral tones with smooth gradation.
All Canon imagePROGRAF printers print through a standard driver or through
a Print Plug-In from Photoshop. The Plug-In of ers many great benei ts,
including increased image quality with 16-bit image rendering, whereas the
standard driver of ers only 8-bit, and ease of use as there are a lot less clicks
involved to execute a print. The Canon Plug-In also eliminates the common
mistake of double color management (when color management is enabled
in both Photoshop and the print driver, causing serious color problems) by
automatically disabling the printer's color management. Very cool.
