Special Note: Lightroom Color Management
Lightroom is extremely color savvy and, up until the point of Export, Lightroom
has done all the color management behind the scenes. Lightroom works with
all images in the ProPhoto RGB color working space and combines that space
with a special tone curve developed from the sRGB working space. Remember,
ProPhoto RGB is the largest working space, allowing for the greatest amount of
color possible; however, it is also so large that as of yet, there are no monitors
nor printers that can reproduce all of the colors it can produce. The added tone
curve allows Lightroom to create a realistic working space for image editing.
The export process is where color management, and your decisions about
how you wish to handle color, will come into play with your Photoshop color
management policies. (See Chapter 1, “Color Management for Black and White”,
page 23 for details in setting up Photoshop to manage color properly.)
