Step 2: Photo Menu: Label and Rank
Set ratings, color labels and l ags to label and rank your images on the l y
using the Photo Menu. Use the icons at the bottom of the interface, or tap
the number keys from 1 to 5 to rank the images with the numbers assigned.
Learning these and other keyboard shortcuts for these features will speed
up your process exponentially! Flags and color labels can also be applied for
categorizing, i ltering and sorting images. I typically start my editing process
by giving one star to each image that gives me even the slightest pause, and
nothing to images I do not like. I usually make two or three passes and narrow
the edit with two stars on the second pass, three on the third and so on.
Step 3: Deleting Images
Hitting the Delete key on your keyboard will bring up Lightroom's
safety dialog box, asking you whether you really want to delete the
i le or just remove it from Lightroom. This protects you from deleting
i les accidentally. Selecting “Delete” will move the i les to your trash or
recycle bin but will not actually delete them until you empty the trash,
allowing you to retrieve the images if necessary.
III. Basic Image Processing: an Overview of the
