friends, sharing the memories of the trip. Those friends subsequently
forwarded the images via email to other people, one of whom happened to
be a magazine editor, and I was subsequently contacted to publish some of
the images. If it were not for my copyright metadata tags embedded in the
image i les, that art director would not have been able to contact me.
In order to apply your copyright information to your image i les, you will i rst
need to create a template. Once you have created a template, it will live in
this drop-down menu for you to choose as a preset with a single click. The
following steps will guide you in creating a personalized copyright template.
Click on the Metadata drop-down menu and choose “New”.
Move down the box and enter information into the i elds that would be
pertinent to all images you shoot. Make sure to enter a title in the “Preset
Name” i eld so that you can access it again in the future.
Step 10: Keywords
Keywords are text information that describes the important contents of an
image. Embedded into the image i les in the form of metadata, keywords are
extremely helpful in identifying, sorting and i nding images in library and
database searches. Whether for stock submissions or just your own personal
library, use keywords to start cataloging your image database. Move down to
“Keywords” and type the words you wish to apply to all of the images for this
import. These keywords will be added to every image so that it is best
