An impact of DST on regional economic growth is related to industrial
restructuring. Until 1993, the industrial structure of Daejeon city did not change
much in spite of the establishment of DST. However, since its function was
changed in 1993, Daejeon Metropolitan City has made efforts to enable high-tech
venture firms to move into DST by providing support mechanism for the com-
mercialization and production of R&D results in DST. The main components of
these mechanisms are TBI, post-TBI, and venture industrial parks where start-up
firms can concentrate on commercialization of their technology. To support the
