widely used as flooring material in Japan because of the improved properties com-
pared to the conventional materials ( Figure 10.93 ). The amount of energy used for
air conditioning after the use of soil ceramics was 25% less than that without earth
ceramics. Figure 10.94 shows the flexural strength per manufacturing energy
(MPa m 3 /GJ) for the hydrothermally solidified waste soil (earth ceramics) and other
common ceramic products. Similarly, earth ceramics have less allergic problems
than vinylon cloth and carpets. Thus, the hydrothermal processing helps greatly in
the production of ecofriendly materials, namely ecomaterials or green materials.
