and etched seeds. Lee and Chung (1998) [189] have reattempted the use of the solvent
NH 4 Cl, first reported by Ikornikova [177] , to obtain calcite single crystals to suppress
the spontaneous mineralizer. It was observed that the addition of such an organic addi-
tive played an important role in suppressing the formation of spontaneous nuclei; usu-
ally a higher percentage fill (81
83%) was selected in all the experiments and the
pressure
temperature conditions were kept low. Hence, Teflon was used as the liner.
