In-Depth Information
DCS to the Fieldbus are:
Low-level control.
Process parameters.
Alarm generation.
Calibration information.
Device status.
Area control.
The DCS will still be responsible for the high-level control functionality and the interopera-
tiablily between areas. Thus, the functions that will stay on the DCS are:
Advanced control.
Interarea control (bring together the control of areas).
Production co-ordination.
Centralised configuration.
Alarm filtering.
Network administration.
Communicate with devices and service their requirements.
Maintain an overall database.
Function moved to the field:
• Low-level control.
• Parameter calculation.
• Alarm handling.
• Local area control.
