FIGURE 10 Trace fossils in levee deposits of the Late Cretaceous Nanaimo Group, Gulf Islands,
British Columbia. (A) Thin-bedded turbidites with wavy parallel laminae. Beds show BI ¼ 0-2, with
isolated trace fossils such as Thalassinoides ( Th ), Scolicia ( Sc ), and Ophiomorpha rudis ( Or ).
(B) Turbidite bed with well-developed convolute bedding at its top. Unit shows BI ¼ 0-1, with iso-
lated fugichnia (fu), Ophiomorpha rudis ( Or ), and Planolites ( P ). (C) Thin-bedded levee turbidites,
with the lower unit showing well-developed current ripples and the upper sandstone characterized
by loading into underlying mudstone. The mudstone is unburrowed. The sandstones contain isolated
fugichnia (fu) and Scolicia ( Sc ). The silty turbidite caps contain Planolites ( P ), Palaeophycus tubu-
laris ( Pt ), and Phycosiphon ( Ph ). (D) Thin- to thick-bedded turbidites with Asterosoma ( As ) (prob-
ably allochthonous), Thalassinoides ( Th ), and Phycosiphon ( Ph ). (E) Well-developed Bouma T b-e
turbidite containing aggradational current ripples. The unit shows BI ¼ 2, with isolated fugichnia
