of facies in prograding stratigraphic successions. Dominant controls in underfilled lake-type basins
are high salinities, substrate consolidation, patchy input of freshwater, and relatively low water
tables in basin-marginal settings. Laterally adjacent environments along strike and along deposi-
tional dip both form vertical successions under changing conditions. The idealized sections show
vertical successions along depositional dip. Examples are based on case studies (referenced here)
