In-Depth Information
This additional data, often referred to as attribute data , can be leveraged in
InfraWorks to help you organize the data in your model and automate the
stylization of it. For example, you could set up a style rule that assigns specific
building styles to specific building types as contained in the attribute data. As
a result, the appearance of the buildings would vary to match the type, making
your model look much more realistic. You'll learn more about styles in Chapter 5,
but we will touch on them a bit in this chapter.
draping When you import ground imagery, it is automatically draped over the
terrain—there is no choice. In the case of vector data, you must choose whether
the data is to be draped on the terrain. When building a base model, most vector
data will be draped, but in some cases you have to consciously make that choice.
exercise 2.5: Import Vector data
If you are continuing from the previous exercise, you can skip to step 3. Otherwise,
if you haven't already done so, go to the topic's web page at www.sybex.com/go/
infraworksessentials and download the files for Chapter 2. Unzip the files to
the correct location on your hard drive according to the instructions in the intro-
duction of this topic.
1. If it is not already open, launch InfraWorks.
2. On the Start Page, click Open and browse to C:\InfraWorks
Essentials\Chapter 02\ . Click Ch02 Bimsville Bypass.sqlite
and click Open.
3. Select the Ex_2_5 proposal.
You should see the model as it would appear at the end of Exercise 2.4,
with the terrain and imagery in place and the model extent reduced.
4. If the Bookmarks panel is not visible, click Bookmarks on the
Utility Bar.
5. Click Ex_2_3_End - Town View Looking North. Your view will
