After a pause, a new version of the road segment will appear in the
model (see FigureĀ 8.26). As you study the detailed model, you may
notice a few differences when compared to the sketched roads of
InfraWorks. First, you'll see that the road and shoulder surfaces are
sloped in a direction perpendicular to the road centerline as compared
to the sketched roads, which are flat. Second, you may recognize that
the embankments that tie the road back to the existing terrain have
a constant slope with an irregular edge as compared to the sketched
roads that have a uniform edge (constant distance from the center-
line) and an irregular slope. These differences are characteristic of
a detailed engineering design versus an InfraWorks sketch, which is
more for visualization and spatial context.
