Visually Analyzing Your Model
One of the functions that traditional CAD programs cannot easily perform is
visual analysis. InfraWorks, on the other hand, has two tools that make it easy
to analyze what you can see from a given location. These tools are Select Visible
and Range Finder.

When presenting your model, you will often be asked “What can I see from
[enter location here]?” The visual impact of your proposed design will be one
of the most important concerns that you will need to address. With the Select
Visible tool, InfraWorks answers this question in the most literal sense. You sim-
ply position your view of the model to the one in question and ask InfraWorks to
select what you can see (see Figure 7.7). Then you can analyze that selection set
and make adjustments accordingly. You access this command by clicking Select
Visible in the Analyze toolbar.

Once you have identified an item in your view that is of interest to you or your
audience, you can use the Range Finder command to analyze the location of
that object in your field of view. You launch Range Finder by clicking the Range
