working with Material styles
Styles control two main aspects of the objects in your InfraWorks model: their
appearance and their behavior. Materials are at the core of the appearance
aspect of styles. A material consists of one of two things: a color or a texture.
Color is controlled by the Hue Saturation Value (HSV) system or Red Green Blue
(RGB) system. A fourth property called Alpha Channel controls the transparency
of the color. Figure 5.6 shows the color settings applied to a material style along-
side the application of that style to an object in the model.
fIgure 5.6 A material style that utilizes a color has been applied to an object in the model.
A texture is simply a raster image that is applied to the model and copied in
a tiled fashion. When the texture is incorporated into the style, you provide the
dimensions of a single instance so that InfraWorks knows how big to make each
tile. Figure 5.7 shows a texture applied to a material style alongside the applica-
tion of that style to an object in the model.
