Preparing to work with Pipelines and Pipeline
Connectors
Pipeline work is unique because it typically takes place underground. Because
of this, you should adjust a few settings to make working underground a little
easier. First, you should enable navigation below the terrain. To do this, disable
the Lock Mouse Navigation Above Ground setting in the Application Options
dialog, under Navigation (see Figure 4.29).

Next, you should enable the display of the underside of the terrain by turn-
ing on the Show Backfaces setting in the Application Options dialog under 3D
Graphics (see Figure 4.30).

And finally, you should toggle the Surface Opacity icon on the Presentation tool-
bar. This will set the surface opacity setting to 50% allowing you to see through
the terrain and view the pipes and structures below ground (see Figure 4.31). You
should know that this setting does not affect roads or coverages, which are often
