Jump In, the water Is Amazing
Another telltale characteristic of a water area is its stunning animated water
effect. This effect is available through one special material style available in
the Water section of the Material tab of the Style palette. The special style is
called Water Shader. This material style can be used in any application where
you would use a material. Imagine some of the interesting things you could do
by applying a moving water style to a coverage, a building, or even a road. You'll
learn more about configuring styles later in this topic.
Creating water features
To create rivers or water areas, you can use the Rivers or Water Areas command
located with the other InfraWorks design tools, as shown in FigureĀ 4.14. When
you launch either of these commands, the Select Draw Style asset card will
open, offering four types of styles: Water Area, Material, Material Group, and 3D
Model. However, the only style type that is of use is the Water Area style type.
Material and Material Group styles do not show up in the model at all, and the
3D Model style type simply inserts a 3D model near the center of the water area.
Once you have selected your style, you can proceed to click points in the
model to represent the path of a river or the perimeter of a water area. To set the
initial water level of the water area, InfraWorks will determine which vertex is
located at the lowest terrain elevation and then set the entire water area to that
elevation.
