San Cristóbal Island
In Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, perhaps the best super-budget choice is
Chatham , at Av. Northía and Av. de la Armada Nacional, heading
toward the airport, 5-520-137. It is clean, comfortable, offers hot

water and fans, is inexpensive, and it maintains a bit of atmosphere.
Meals are available. $

Near Playa Mann, on Av. Northía, is Cabanas Don Jorge , 5-520-

208, [e-mail]. Playa Mann is the beach on the road heading
north out of town toward the National Park Visitor's Center. Over-
looking the ocean and popular swimming beach, the cabins here are
comfortable but nothing special and are a bit more secluded than
some of the other options. Rooms have hot water and fans, withmeals
available. $

Near Playa de Oro and a bit more centrally located, is themore expen-
sive Hotel Orca , 5-520-233, [e-mail]. Right on the water,

Orca has been recommended as offering great seafood and extra ame-
nities, such as air-conditioning. $$

Isabella Island
In Puerto Villamil, there are several options. La Casa de Marita ,

5-529-238, [e-mail], offers comfort with all of the neces-
sary amenities, including hot water, air-conditioning and a travel
agency for local excursions. $$

A better deal is the Swiss-operated Isabella del Mar , /fax 5-529-

125, [e-mail], www.hosteriaisabela.com.ec. Their ameni-
ties are similar to those at La Casa de Marita, but with more charm
and a better price. Next door is Ballena Azul , under the same owner-
ship.

Floreana Island
Probably the most famous of all the islands' accommodations is Pen-
sionWittmer on Floreana Island, 5-520-150. In fact, it is the main

attraction of the island. There is no real population base on Floreana
but the history of the island is truly incredible, the foundation of
which was laid by the Wittmer family and other adventurers. Expect
comfort and complete isolation here. Though the electricity is on for
only a fewhours a day, rooms are comfortable, with private baths, hot
