A step up in quality is Hotel Mol Internacional , at the north end of

near the town's center and is convenient for organizing trips and
gathering supplies. Large, clean rooms include private bath and a
balcony. $

tonio, amile northeast of town along the river. Nice rooms are set on spa-
cious grounds overlooking Río Tena. There's access to the river beach

A bit closer to the “jungle” than Tena, in the vicinity of Puerto
Misahuallí (the last-minute jungle-supply boomtown) is Misahuallí
Jungle Hotel , across the river from town. Contact them in Quito, at
Ramirez Dávalos 251 and Páez,

Jungle Lodges Around
Tena, Misahuallí & the
Upper Río Napo
Cabañas Amorangachiñas are located on Río Anzu, a tributary
nearly 19 miles up the Río Napo from Misahuallí. Perched on a bluff
330 feet above the river, the spectacular hillside cabins offer great
views in a relaxing environment. The open-air dining room is particu-
larly interesting, with long benches looking out over the landscape
below. You won't be staring at your neighbor while eating here. Be-
tween the cabins and the river is a parrot salt lick where, on clear
mornings, you can see an amazing display of birds. Guided hikes into
the surrounding area are through primary and secondary forests.
