get there from Guayaquil, take a bus toward the city of Machalá and
ask to be let off at the Churute Information Center. By car, travel
southeast out of town toward the suburb of Durán, then head east to-
ward the town of El Tríunfo. Turn south at Km 26, well before El
Tríunfo, and drive towardMachalá. The sign for the reserve entrance
is on the right side of the road about 10 minutes after the turn. In-
quire at theMinistry of Tourismoffice (Visitor Information section) in
Guayaquil for visiting the mangrove estuaries.
In case you need to ask, all roads are described
as “Vía a” and then the name of the major town
in the direction you are heading.

Ejercito, offers trips to Manglares Churute Ecological Reserve. Other
local excursions include visits to mangrove forests, beaches and

ally maintain lower standards and higher prices than
elsewhere in the region. Fortunately, it's the rare occasion
that an outdoor enthusiast has to spend more than a day
or two in Guayaquil.
