cabañas. If you are camping, but like the amenities of a comfortable
eco-resort, including fabulous meals, a nice bar, a common lounge
area, and access to a tranquil beach, then this is by far the best place
to camp.
Where to Eat
Bahía
The best restaurants in Bahía are located in

Herradura
and
La Piedra Hotels
(see page 295). Both
offer a delicious selection of seafood and international cui-
sine. While they're a bit expensive by Ecuadorian stan-
dards, the food is worth every penny.
Another option is to explore along the edge of the Río Chone near the
ferry docks, where you'll find several good and inexpensive seafood
establishments. These breezy, open-air restaurants always include
world-class views and are great places to participate in the nation's
coastal pastime - that is, relaxing and watching the world float by.
If seafood isn't your style, you can always succumb to Chinese food at
the cheap and cheerful
Chifa China
, midtown on Bolívar. Or, try
Italian food at the popular pizzeria
Donatella's
, on Calle Alberto
Santos in the southern part of town. It's open every day for lunch and
dinner. The pasta and pizzas here vary from good to delicious, de-
pending on how long you've been on a seafood diet.
Tarquí & Murcielago
There are several open-air seafood options along the waterfront in
Tarquí, south of the fishing harbor. To the north, closer to Playa
Marcielago, quick, cheap and inexpensive seafood cafés also line the
Malecón. Otherwise, try
